Weaving Residency in Lhee

AUG 2021 / After the exhibition at 37PK in Haarlem, the prototype of Het ritselt niet / It doesn’t rustle was moved to the workshop of weaver Barbara Mahler in the village of Lhee, Drenthe. In August 2021 I went over there to weave a basket from willow rods, based on the characteristics of the prototype.

This basket was made with traditional techniques for weaving baskets from willow rods. The techniques were stretched and manipulated in order to create a basket with specific form and characteristics.

I am very grateful for the help and guidance of Barbara Mahler in this process who was willing to share her knowledge and skills with me.
